Briefing of the Cabinet Committee on KPT Terminal Outsourcing

Today’s meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT) was presided over by Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar.

Regarding the outsourcing of operations at Karachi Port’s Bulk and General Cargo Terminal East Wharf, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs gave a summary. The meeting was briefed by the secretary of maritime affairs on the port terminal outsourcing process and previous CCoIGCT decisions made in this regard.

The CCoIGCT was informed of the decisions made by the then CCoIGCT at the previous meeting of the CCoIGCT held on 09-08-2023, which the then Cabinet was unable to ratify due to its dissolution. Following deliberation, the CCoIGCT decided that proposals made by the previous CCoIGCT regarding the above-mentioned agenda might be presented to the current Federal Cabinet for consideration.

Shahid Ashraf Tarar, Minister of Commerce, Industries, and Production, is also the Minister of Communication, Railways, and Maritime Affairs. Gohjar Ijaz is the minister of petroleum and power. Muhammad Ali, PM’s Financial Advisor Dr. Waqar Masood, PM’s Aviation Advisor Air Marshal (R) Farhat Hussain Malik, PM’s Establishment Advisor The conference was also attended by Ahad Cheema, Vice Admiral (R) Iftikhar Ahmad Rao, Secretary of Finance, Secretary Maritime Affairs, Secretary Law & Justice, and Chairman KPT.
