For ex-Wapda distribution companies (DISCOs), the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) hike of Rs. 1.46 per unit on Friday.

All customer categories, with the exception of those who use electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) and lifeline services, will be subject to the stated changes.
The adjustment will be noted independently on the consumer’s bills based on the units that were charged to them during the month of July 2023. In the billing month of September 2023, XWDISCOs will reflect the fuel charges modification with regard to July 2023.
It is important to note that the distribution businesses requested an FCA increase of Rs. 2.07 per unit from NEPRA.
The increase in tariffs will put more of a strain on the already-inflation-stricken populace. Protests over exorbitant electricity bills have broken out over the past few weeks all around the nation. Consumers will now experience a rise in September bills, despite assurances of respite.
