One way to download Facebook videos is to use desktop software designed to download videos from various platforms that work with Facebook URLs other than YouTube and Vimeo. There are alternatives though, so check them out.
Download directly from Facebook
On Facebook, almost every video has a Save Video link in the ellipsis menu next to it. However, this feature allows you to create a collection for later viewing by simply ‘saving’ your Facebook videos to a dedicated section of your account called ‘Saved Videos’. If the video owner removes the content, you will no longer be able to access it. Downloading Facebook videos to your computer is a bit complicated, but not difficult. First, click the 3-dot menu on the video and select Copy Link in your browser (this option may not be available for private videos).
Then paste the link into a new browser tab and watch the shortened link (starting with https:) redirect.
//fb.watch/) to long links starting with https :
https://www.facebook.com/watch/. Change “www” in the address bar to “basic”. This will force the browser to load the mobile version of the page.
Then right-click the video and select Open link in new tab. This third tab only shows videos. Finally, right click on the video and select “Save Video As” to download it to your PC.
Use of Other Sites
Fdown.net allows you to download videos in different resolutions, but not for direct download.
To get a high-quality video from Facebook, select Copy Link from the ellipsis menu and paste the copied URL. The website analyzes the content and presents links to download either the ‘normal quality’ version (similar to the process above) or the ‘HD quality’ video.
Click the link or right-click and select Save Link As. You can also force a standard or high-definition download or fix audio issues in the More Options box.
