It is now even more difficult to determine which two sides will advance to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022 after Zimbabwe overcame Pakistan in a thrilling final on Thursday at Optus Stadium in Perth.
The Men in Green are now in fifth place on the points table after losing their first two games of the competition. The Proteas’ chances were further hurt by the rain-affected game between South Africa and Zimbabwe.

It will likely take a miracle for the Babar Azam-led team to advance to the semifinals, but it is unclear how they will do so given that South Africa and Zimbabwe have already accumulated three points.
Win Remaining Games by Big Margins
First, Pakistan needs to win all three of its remaining matches—scheduled for October 30, November 3, and November 6, respectively—against the Netherlands, South Africa, and Bangladesh with a respectable run rate.
Additionally, the Men in Green will need India to triumph over South Africa and Zimbabwe in their respective matches, which are slated for October 30 and November 6, respectively.
Third, Pakistan must hope that other outcomes favour it, such as Zimbabwe losing its final two of three games against Bangladesh, India, and the Netherlands. Besides the match against Pakistan, Bangladesh must also lose another game. The following games for Bangladesh are against Zimbabwe on October 30 and India on November 2.
