The news of a powerful earthquake that struck Morocco is quite bad. It has resulted in more than 2,000 deaths and the same number of injuries. About 1,400 of those had significant injuries. The districts directly south of the city of Marrakesh saw the most severe damage.

Three days of national mourning have been announced by King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Additionally, he is ensuring that survivors have access to shelter, food, and other requirements.
On a Friday night, a large earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 struck, causing extensive damage. Entire communities have been destroyed in a few locations up in the mountains.
About 44 miles southwest of Marrakesh, in a region known as the High Atlas Mountains, the earthquake began. Known for its ancient sites, Marrakesh is a well-liked tourist destination.
