In April, Xiaomi unexpectedly introduced the Redmi Note 12R Pro, which uses the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1.
Compared to the 6.67″ display on the 12R Pro, the Redmi Note 12R has a larger 6.79″ FHD+ screen.
Similar to the Pro model, the camera configuration consists of a 50 MP primary module and a 2 MP auxiliary lens.
The Redmi Note 12R Pro, which has the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and costs CNY 1,800 ($250, €230, or 20,500), was quietly released by Xiaomi in April. The normal version wasn’t available during that time, though. On the China Telecom website, the Redmi Note 12R (model number 23076RA4BC) recently surfaced, and intriguingly, it has an updated chipset.
The SM4450 chip, which Qualcomm is likely to sell as “Snapdragon 4 Gen 2,” is anticipated to be used in the next phone, though this has not yet been formally verified. According to reports, this chip will be produced on a 4nm Samsung node rather than a 6nm TSMC as was the case for the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1. Up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage are anticipated to be available combinations for the phone, along with a microSD slot for additional storage.
Important information was also available on the carrier’s website. In comparison to the 6.67′ display of the 12R Pro, the Redmi Note 12R’s generous 6.79′ FHD+ display is substantially larger. Its camera arrangement is rather straightforward, consisting of a 50 MP primary module and a 2 MP auxiliary lens (same camera specifications to the Pro model).
The phone’s measurements and weight are also supplied. It has the following specifications: 168.6 x 76.3 x 8.17mm; 199g. The powerful 5000 mAh battery will keep the Xiaomi Note 12R running all day. It will handle 22.5W of fast charging. The phone comes equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack in addition to a USB-C connection. With the release of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 12R, it is finally time for all smartphone manufacturers, including Samsung, to tighten their shoelaces.
China Telecom reports that the Redmi Note 12R would launch in China on June 30, possibly making it the first device to make use of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.
These are the costs that China charges for the devices:
RAM/STORAGE | Price | In US Dollar |
4/128GB | CNY 1,100 | $153 |
6/128GB | CNY 1,200 | $167 |
8/128GB | CNY 1,600 | $223 |
8/256GB | CNY 1,800 | $250 |
The phone will be offered in three different color options: Midnight Black, Sky Fantasy, and Time Blue. The carrier has shared images showcasing the Time Blue color variant.
