While jail life is not easy, high-profile inmates—typically politicians and businessmen—are given privileges and access to facilities that are not granted to regular residents.
Imran Khan, a former prime minister of Pakistan and current leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, is the most recent prominent person to be imprisoned. The populist politician was detained shortly after receiving a three-year prison sentence from a trial court.
The former cricket star was transported from Lahore to Attock Jail by road following his instant detention. He was housed in a stretched trailer.
Law enforcement personnel have increased security at Attock Jail and in the area around it.

Khan, 70, is well known for his ten-acre expansive estate in the capital, which gives a breathtaking view of Islamabad’s Margalla Hills. However, the former premier no longer has access to such a large space to live in.
A VVIP cell may have been created for the PTI head, according to media sources. The cell contains a fan, a bed, and a bathroom inside but lacks an air conditioner or a way to cool the room.
Former premier and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif was detained in Attock Fort in the 1990s, making PTI Chairman the first former PM to be jailed there.
According to reports, Attock Prison, currently a high-security facility, was established by British authorities to house rebellion suspects.
It’s interesting to note that the current prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif, was detained at the Attock jail in 1999, when he was the chief minister of Punjab and was incarcerated in a graft case.
Azam Khan, Dr. Farooq Sattar, former KP CM Sardar Mehtab, Hussain Nawaz of Nawaz Sharif, and Hussain Nawaz’s father, Nawaz Sharif, all continued to be detained in the prison.
